Meaning of education

What is education? Or what do you understand by this term? Well, it may be one of those words with which we are most familiar with, some of us has good access to it(if you are reading this through the internet), and also some are deprived of it.

Basically education is the act of giving knowledge to others through skilful processes and also acquiring knowledge from someone else. It’s a two way process in which one gets to learn new things, new ideas and on the other side it’s the source or the knowledge provider (who is very crucial for this system). But the main idea is how the person who seeks the knowledge, is gonna apply this for himself and for the welfare of the Society.

This act of seeking knowledge has been followed by us, since the very beginning of our existence. And with the development of of us , our subject matter or the matter of interest has also evolved from hunting – gathering to rocket science .

But there are not much changes that has been made in our education system. A sad reality of our Indian education system is that here children are taught to be less creative and be more obedient. Practical knowledge is something that a poor student may has never been introduced to. Our Indian Society is one where a poor family may spend a huge amount of money in marriage and religious ceremonies but  parents might not afford even for the basic education of their children.

In my opinion I think we Indians need to have a  broader mind-set by being welcoming to new things. .Here a large section of the people are just risk avoider than risk taker in any field, if they don’t go with their actual potential than it’s just a curse for themselves. A student should be taught to be more productive rather than being very competitive. We should realise the actual value of education and the power it upholds in changing our life forever.
